Much as “circuit parties,” themselves, this film is sometimes arousing, sometimes irritating and sometimes just
downright embarrassing. It casts gay men, on the whole, as shallow, one-dimensional drugged sex
machines. Perhaps the irony is that the portrait is too often accurate.
The protagonist is a former small town cop who decides to spend a wild summer in “the big city,” although I am
not sure that such a description of West Hollywood is particularly accurate. What we discover is a
self-indulgent petty small town, a self-inflicted ghetto existence.
Of course, in finest Hollywood tradition, all ends well, at least for our hero.
